CNC precision engraving and shaping
The base material is 304 stainless steel. Using a CNC engraving machine, the posture of the figure and the inclination angle of the sails are precisely restored. Before the engraving, a three-dimensional model is constructed. The curves of the figure's limbs and the arcs of the sails, etc., are transformed into program instructions. With a hard alloy milling cutter, the engraving is carried out in layers. The rough outline is sketched, and the microscopic details such as the folds of the clothes and the stitching lines are finely engraved to present the dynamic tension of the figure and the mechanical balance of the sails. After the engraving, it is compared with laser scanning to control the error.
Precision spraying process
The metal substrate is sandblasted to create a rough surface, which enhances the adhesion of the coating. Using electrostatic spraying, the specially formulated varnish is uniformly atomized and adsorbed onto the surface. For complex curved surfaces, the spray gun angle and gun movement speed are adjusted to ensure uniform coating distribution without any sagging.
High-temperature curing process
After spraying, it is placed in a constant-temperature curing oven and undergoes a series of treatments including preliminary curing, complete curing, and cooling and shaping. The temperature difference is controlled by the hot air circulation to form a hard, highly adhesive and durable coating, ensuring that the color does not fade or peel off for a long time.
Polishing process
After the process of solidification, the artisans used wool wheels in combination with sandpapers of different grits to manually polish the surface. They started with the overall area and then moved to the details, focusing on the tiny edges of the fingers of the figures and the edges of the sails, to achieve a fine matte finish on the paint surface, with a smooth texture and no rough edges.
